On the blog: Listen can you hear?

This week, Sandy Swallow, Lakota artist, owner of Sandy Swallow Gallery in Hill City, and a member of the Sculpture Project Advisory Committee, shares a poem. Listen Can You Hear? invites readers to attend the first annual People of the Wind and Water Gathering Together, a Native American arts festival in Main Street Square, August 24, 2013.

Listen Can You Hear?

Listen, can you hear the drums?

Like the heart beat of Mother Earth.

Listen, can you hear the thundering hooves of days gone by?

A gathering of the people of water and wind.

Listen, can you hear the wind calling to you to come to the celebration.

Meeting of young and old, let us celebrate our diversity and uniqueness.

Contemporary and traditional, let us celebrate.

Listen to the water gently coming down giving nourishment to Mother Earth.

Gathering of the people of water and wind.

Come to celebrate with us in the beautiful Black Hills.

Listen, can you hear the drums?
